Robert Vermeer
The Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) inducted two corporation leaders into the AEM Hall of Fame, including Robert L. Vermeer, chair emeritus of Vermeer Corp.
Throughout Vermeer’s career, he helped to continue the legacy of bringing innovative processes to Vermeer Corp. in order to expand the business, according to AEM. Vermeer started his career at Vermeer Corp. in 1974. He later assumed CEO responsibilities and served as chairman of the company’s board of directors in 1989.
AEM adds that Vermeer initiated a program to evaluate and coach dealers to higher levels of performance through improved customer relationships. In addition, he oversaw key advancements in the company’s finance department that improved equipment availability, allowing dealers to stock inventory globally.
AEM also inducted Ray Hagie, founder of Hagie Manufacturing LLC, into its Hall of Fame this year. According to AEM, Hagie Manufacturing invented the four-wheeled Hagie sprayer, front-mounted boom and a high-clearance nitrogen toolbar.
“AEM is proud and privileged to honor the pioneering individuals who have invented, managed, built and led the off-road equipment industry,” says AEM President Dennis Slater. “Their vision and dedication have contributed significantly to the growth and strength of our industry and economic progress and quality of life around the world. Their legacy serves as an inspiration for our leaders of tomorrow.”
An independent panel of industry experts evaluates potential candidates for the Hall of Fame based on their innovation, industry contributions, leadership, corporate citizenship or social responsibility and sustainability. Inductees are announced and celebrated during special ceremonies at AEM’s annual conference. Additionally, nominations for the AEM Hall of Fame are open year-round.
